2026 Metro Swimming Silver Championships Logo

For the second consecutive year, Hauppauge had the honor and privilege of hosting the Metropolitan Swimming Silver Championships. Building on the successes of 2025, we welcomed swimmers from across Metro Swimming's south region to Hauppauge High School for three days of championship racing.

Silver Championships holds a special place in the competitive swimming calendar. For many age group swimmers, it's the first championship meet they qualify for, a milestone that marks real progress on the competitive track. From Silvers, swimmers set their sights on the next level: Junior Mets for 14 & Under and the Age Group Team Championship for 15–18, both held in March.

By the Numbers

Over the course of the three-day meet, more than 600 swimmers competed representing 13 teams from as far east as East Hampton to Nassau County. The energy on deck was electric from the first session to the last.

The meet produced over 190 new qualifiers for either Junior Mets (14 & Under) or the Age Group Team Championship (15–18), an incredible testament to the level of racing and the preparation these athletes put in throughout the season.

Qualifier Bag Tags

Every swimmer who achieved a new qualifying time for Junior Mets or the Age Group Team Championship received a commemorative bag tag, a keepsake usually reserved for higher-level meets. We wanted qualifiers to walk away with something tangible to mark the accomplishment.

Prizes and Incentives

Building on what we introduced in 2025, we continued to offer prizes designed to inspire fast swimming and celebrate achievement. In addition to award ribbons for heat winners, we gave out exclusive prizes to Hot Heat winners including caps and shirts.

We also continued our tradition of handing out additional commemorative bag tags for Heat Winners and swimmers who achieved a Best Time, small tokens that recognize the effort behind every great swim.

Thank You

A meet of this size doesn't happen without an incredible team behind the scenes. We can't thank our officials enough for volunteering their time and expertise to ensure fair and professional competition across all three days. Representing most of the teams in the meet, their dedication to the sport is what makes championship-level racing possible. And to the countless parent volunteers who worked timing, marshaling, hospitality, and everything in between: hosting Silver Championships is only possible because of you.

We also want to extend a special thank you to the Hauppauge School District for their continued partnership and support. When a snowstorm threatened to disrupt the meet weekend, the district worked with us to adjust the Sunday schedule so we could complete the meet on its originally planned weekend. That flexibility made all the difference.

Finally, thank you to our sponsors for their generosity and hospitality: Wegmans Lake Grove and Duck Donuts Hauppauge. Their support helps us create an atmosphere that goes beyond the pool and makes this meet a true event for our swimming community.
