2019 – 2020 Club Season
We hope everyone is enjoying this little break and the nice summer weather. Today begins our 2019 – 2020 season. We had a tremendous 2018 – 2019 season and we’re looking to build upon all of our successes for another great season. The 2018 – 2019 season saw a lot of positives for our team. We entered new meets, hired several great coaches and saw an increase in long course practices through the months of May and June.
This email is an overview of the coming season. More information will be shared at the parent meeting once our season is underway. More emails will be sent out for meet entries, team events and other important information.
Update Your Contact Information
Please make sure all of your contact information on your account is correct spot. Make sure your home phone and cell phone are in the right place. You can also add secondary contact information. This is for your spouse or other family members that will need any emails the team sends out. Update apparel sizes as well. This helps us our the correct apparel sizes.
Team Unify On Deck App
This app has a lot of beneficial information for you. The coaches also use it to take attendance. Last minute practice and meet changes are sent to emails, cell phones and as a push notification if you have the Team Unify On Deck App installed on your phone. Please look over your contact information and download the app.
USA Swimming Deck Pass
It will list all of your swimmers times in the USA Swimming Database.
Meet Mobile
This app is used for live meet results for meets that use Meet Mobile. Most meets use meet mobile but not all.
Practice Schedule
We will continue to use the monthly Google Sheets practice schedule. The schedule has multiple tabs on it. Currently the home tab is the 2019 – 2020 group practice schedule. Each month will have it’s own tab like we did this year. You don’t need a GMAIL account to view. But if you download the Google Sheets app our practice schedule will always be there. The App is easier to view.
Training Groups
To see the group your swimmer is in for the 2019 – 2020 season you’ll need to login to our Team Unify website or On Deck App and look under your account. Each member / swimmer will have a section on the website or app. The majority of the groups this year are colors.
Meet Schedule
The meet schedule for the year is posted on the Events Page of our team unify website. This schedule is subject to change. The schedule is for the most part the same as last year with a few changes. The Montgomery travel meet was on the Metro schedule. But when I asked the meet host if the meet was indeed on Thanksgiving weekend, I was told they are no longer having the meet. The March Wesleyan Meet is the same weekend as JOs. We’ll discuss this at our parent meeting. The Florida meet dates have not been released but it’s our plan to attend again. The Relay Carnival date is set. Counties in April is TBA.
Terminology
The events page has a little bit of swimming terminology. NCAC stands for Nassau County Aquatic Center. This is the pool at Eisenhower Park. Qualifiers means your swimmer must have a certain time in the stroke and distance to swim in this meet. They must qualify. They could qualify for one event or many. Team names are also abbreviated. These are the teams hosting the meets.
Opt Out & Opt In
For the Short Course Yards (SCY) season all swimmers are entered into meets by the coaches. You will receive an email that says ENTERED – You have a swimmer entered in…. You will have to opt out to be removed from the meet. This is for all of the school year meets. For the summer meets we change to Opt In. Everyone has a different summer schedule so you have to opt in for the summer meets.

Meet Fees
Billed the following month based on commitment not attendance in the meet. Once our meet entry is submitted to the meet host and accepted we are bound by the rules of the information packet. One of the rules within the information packet is that meet fees must be paid before we attend the meet. Since we already paid for the meet fees based on commitment, you’re obligated to pay the meet fees even if your swimmer doesn’t attend.

Practice Policy
All should sit on the deep end side of the bleachers. The coaches and swimmers need their space in the shallow end of the pool. Limit conversations during practice with the coaching staff.
Practice Rules
Swimmers are only allowed to practice with their group. Please check the practice schedule. Swimmers will not be allowed to swim with other groups. If your swimmer has an illness or injury that the coaching staff is unaware of, please inform the coaching staff through email well before the practice so a meaningful discussion can take place. Immediately before or during practice isn’t the right time.
No Texting Policy
The coaches appreciated the no texting policy for the 2018 – 2019 season. Email and scheduled meeting well before practice or after are the best way to talk to the coaching staff. The Coaches Page on our website has bios and contact information for all of our coaches. Please copy Brandon@HauppaugeSwimming.com on all emails to coaches.
Code Of Conduct & Required Health Form
Our swimmers need to follow both the team code of conduct, USA Swimming code of conduct and the Hauppauge District code of conduct. Our required Health form will be posted to our website shortly and an email will be sent out. This must be filled out, signed and return before the deadline. This will be the beginning of September. Once the deadline passes anyone who hasn’t turned in a form will not be allowed to swim until the form is turned in.
Contact Coach Brandon with any questions.
